Half orange juice, half club soda, on ice. Alternatively, half "light"
cranberry juice with club soda. I tried the cranberry/pomegranate "light"
and that was good, too. Sort of like drinking a soda but probably healthier.
Is club soda as bad as other sodas?

Check the label to see how much sodium you're getting in the club
soda. Since it has no sugar or other sweetener in it, I've always
seen it designated as a "free" beverage. Seltzer (if I remember
right) has no sugar or sodium, just carbon dioxide -- but these days I
think you have to have a permit for the CO2 !

Add a big scoop of vanilla ice cream to make an orange creamsicle.

Not sure what you mean by "bad"... club soda contains added salt, seltza
does not.

Under obamination care you will need a permit to fart, and your farts will

The salt in club soda, if any, is negligible. Many club sodas don't
have any sodium, and those that do have about 70-75mg per serving.
Which is 1/36th of the USRDA of sodium (or 1/100th of the average
salt intake of the average American per day). It's not exactly a
Campbell's soup.

One of my favorites is half OJ and half diet Sprite. Kind of like a poor
man's Mimosa.

You could make it authentic by using grape soda instead. (Hmmm..
what color does orange and purple make?)

Cheryl, there are no/low sodium and no sugar club sodas to be found. My
market even has them under the store label, rather than a national
brand, and can often be found for a buck a piece (litre bottles).

As I said, I don't know what the poster means by bad. That club soda
contains a small amount of sodium bicarbonate is all I could offer that
makes it different from plain carbonated water (seltza). I've never seen
club soda that doesn't contain sodium bicarbonate, it may exist and be
labeled as such but then it's not club soda, then it's simply carbonated
water. I still don't know what the OP means by "bad"... to me club soda is
bad if it doesn't contain any booze. My default non alcoholic sparking
beverage is diet black cherry soda... I used to drink diet code red too but
around here all I can find is the regular and it's too sugar laden for me.
I've asked the local store manager if he'd order it, said he'd look into it,
so far after more then five years and as many requests I don't see it. Code
Red with its lurid food coloring is probably bad.

Club soda does not have sugar! Tonic does.

Our store brand Club Soda is just carbonated water as well. It's
$.59/L every day.

Speakig of which - do they still make Seagram's Collins Mixer (or
was it Canada Dry?) I used to drink that as soda. It's light on
the sweetness.

By "bad for you" I just wondered if it was high in sodium as I'd heard, and
obviously without the sugar, it isn't high in carbs like non diet soda is.
So, I got my answer, that it isn't "bad".

When are you gonna come down
When are you going to land
I should have stayed on the farm
I should have listened to my old man

You know you can't hold me forever
I didn't sign up with you
I'm not a present for your friends to open
This boy's too young to be singing the blues

chorus

So goodbye yellow brick road
Where the dogs of society howl
You can't plant me in your penthouse
I'm going back to my plough

Back to the howling old owl in the woods
Hunting the horny back toad
Oh I've finally decided my future lies
Beyond the yellow brick road

What do you think you'll do then
I bet that'll shoot down your plane
It'll take you a couple of vodka and tonics
To set you on your feet again

Maybe you'll get a replacement
There's plenty like me to be found
Mongrels who ain't got a penny
Sniffing for tidbits like you on the ground

[repeat chorus]

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Available on the album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Music: Elton John
Lyrics: Bernie Taupin
Piano and vocals: Elton John
Bass: Dee Murray
Leslie guitar: Davey Johnstone

I wasn't entirely sure I was right! :O} Soda water is very nice with
cranberry, oj, even grapefruit or grape juice. I think it is very smart to
mix one's own soda. I love blueberry juice, have not tried pomegranate. I'll
give it a try.
