Default Sunday dinner

It has been a busy day here. I was up early this morning for my riding
lesson. I got home just before noon and had a quick brunch, picked some
rhubarb and made a rhubarb custard pie and while it was cooking I went
out and weeded the lawn and mowed two of my five sections of lawn, then
headed back to the stables to help repair some fencing. Then I came
home, did some more weeding and mowed two more sections of the lawn,
until my wife came out and told me that she had a drink and canapes
ready for me.

After drinks and 3 games of cribbage I went out and started the BBQ.
Dinner was lamb rib chops, little new potatoes, fresh asparagus and
rolls, and rhubarb custard for dessert. New potatoes and asparagus are
always good, but those lamb chops were incredible, the best lamb I have
ever had.

Sounds like a very busy day. :-)

I grilled some of the garlic basil beef sausage I made and served that
with grilled zucchini topped with some tomato sauce I made.

Sounds like a great day! Thanks for the post.

Lin and I went to the Castroville Artichoke Festival on Sunday. We had
artichoke tamales, artichoke burritos, and deep-fried artichoke hearts. We
got to see some very impressive displays of artwork made from vegetables, a
gorgeous array of classic cars, and dozens of vendors. (There's one vendor
who goes from one food-fest to another selling refrigerator magnets with the
theme of the festival. We were hoping to see her there, but either she
wasn't invited or she hid too well.) There was some not-too-bad live music,
and the weather was wonderful -- 68 degrees and sunny. Just ten miles
inland, the weather was over 100!

Bob, who's pretty darn good at cribbage

MAN! I completely forgot about the artichoke festival, bugger bugger
BUGGER! How was the weather? It was smoldering here in Sac, we spent a lot
of time in my pool (with plenty o' sunscreen, for sure)!

It was gorgeous. We drove back by way of Santa Cruz, and as soon as we left
the immediate coastal region and got into the hills, the temperature
skyrocketed.

The Lodi Zinfest was also last weekend, but we bypassed it. On Saturday we
drove to the Terre Rouge winery in the California Shenandoah Valley instead,
after which we drove to Los Banos to spend the night so we wouldn't have
such a long drive to Castroville the next day.

Lin's and my next planned food-festival outing will be the Courtland Pear
Festival on July 26. The Gilroy Garlic Festival is that same weekend, but I
found the heat and lack of shade there to be too oppressive.
