Default SLOPPY JO RECIPE

FOR THAT LOUD MOUTH

3 tablespoons of olive oil
2 lbs. of ground beef
1 onion, chopped
3 tablespoons Worcesteshire sauce
3 tablespoon vinegar
2 tablespoon sugar
1/2 cup water
salt and pepper
Saute ground beef in hot oil over medium flame until well browned, about
8 minutes, stirring with a fork until pieces are broken up. Combine
remaining ingredients and pour over browned meat. Reduce heat and simmer
20 minutes, stirring often. Serve over bread or hamburger rolls and
spread. Serves 8.

I agree that the Rose recipe is loosemeat (and NOT a Maid-Rite,
please) --- or, if Curtis wants to be really lazy, he can just pick up
a can of Manwich and follow the directions on the can.

Asian Sloppy Jo's

Ingredients
1 cup diced red onion
2 teaspoons crushed garlic
1 teaspoon crushed fresh ginger
1/2 cup finely diced carrot
1 cup finely diced red bell pepper
2 lbs extra lean ground beef
28 ounces diced tomatoes
1/2 cup hoisin sauce
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon hot sauce
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper

Directions
1In a large nonstick skillet sprayed with vegetable spray, add the.
2onion, garlic and ginger. Sauté for 5 minutes or until the onion is
browned. Add.
3the carrot and bell pepper and sauté for 3 more minutes.
4Add the beef and sauté for 5 minutes or until no longer pink. Add the
tomatoes,.
5cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Add the hoisin sauce, lemon juice,
hot sauce,.
6salt and pepper and cook for at least 5 minutes.
7Serve on white rice or pasta.

Have you ever actually eaten that?
Why is extra oil added (ground beef has plenty of fat) and why is the beef
not drained after cooking?
What kind of spread?

I'm guessing that it's an old recipe. Adding oil or other fat to
"hamburger" was necessary back in the old days, because it was very
lean. Now, no fat needs to be added, and in fact, you often need to
drain the excess fat after browning.

I think maybe "spread" is a verb, not a noun, although I'm just guessing.
