It is indeed.

Just don't watch the movie "Ghost".

It's been nearly 7 years since I lost my best friend and I still have to
watch that one alone. I cry thru the entire thing.

Ass. ;-) I have 2 bottles of wine and I haven't seen that movie in eons.
If I can get it downloaded tonight I guess I'll have a good cry before the
BBQ contest tomorrow.

My sister in law along with their kids gave me a precious gift a few years
after I lost my 23 year old son. They gave me a box that was decorated and
adorned with a bow and called it a "memory box". They preloaded it with
some of their memories of my son, and stocked it with blank paper for me to
add memories when they come to me. So now when something sparks a happy
memory, I write it down and drop the paper in the box. I can read them
every now and then when I need to think good thoughts when I miss him so
much.

I miss my 21 year old daughter, too. It's over 12 years since she died,
but the pain doesn't go away. I'm sending you a huge cyber hug. I
understand where you are.

No one said it was going to be easy or that it would not hurt - it always
does. Just hang in there.

FWIW take a look here and see where you are.

You'll then know what to expect and/or strive for.

Good luck.

I have never lost a partner, Alan, but I have lost both parents and
numerous friends in recent years. Part of my healing was getting through
the first entire year of holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Each
first one was like a punch in the gut.

It's been 19 years since my father's death and 11 years since my mother's
death. I still grieve for them on many occasions, but the passing of time
has eased the pain. We never forget, but we become accustomed to not
having them.

Two months ago I lost a very dear friend. That loss is still a very raw
feeling.

You'll get through this, especially with the help of family and friends,
and it will get easier. It's a slow process.

Best always,

Her birthday was traumatic for me. I could barely function for a week after
that.

Upcoming are the wedding anniversary (October 16th) and Christmas. I will
never look forward to Christmas again.

I know THAT feeling! The only thing that brought me out of that somewhat
was my sister moving back to here from Arizona. Now I get to share
Christmas with her and my two nephews.

I get to babysit again tomorrow. :-)

I truly understand that, Alan. Christmas has never been the same again for
me. I wish you the best...

"They" say that's what happens. Dote on your grandchild and give
him/her the love you would have given to Kili. She will be smile on
you when you do. Eventually you may come to view xmas through your
grandchild's eye.

Be careful of that anniversary. Any anniversary, to be truthful. Try to be
doing something that you love and don't notice it's passing.
