The recipe is from bettycrocker.com. I was jonesing for something sweet
after supper and haven't made chocolate chip cookies in a very long time and decided to try something other than my usual recipe. I went to Betty. These are good ‹ at least when they're warm. :-) Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies From bettycrocker.com, February 3, 2009. They're very good and easy to put together. 1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar 1 cup butter or margarine, softened 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 egg 2 cups quick-cooking oats (see comments) 1-1/2 cups Gold Medal® all-purpose or unbleached flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (6 oz) 1 cup chopped nuts, if desired Heat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, stir brown sugar and butter until blended. Stir in vanilla and egg until light and fluffy. Stir in oats, flour, baking soda and salt; stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Onto ungreased cookie sheet, drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart. Bake 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. OK, as I'm typing this, I see that I made a bunch of changes to what's printed above. You're on your own. Notes: Made 2-3-2009; 5 dozen cookies instead of the 3-1/2 dozen the recipe says is the yield.. Used half Crisco and half butter, old-fashioned rolled oats, coarsely cut pecans, mostly milk chocolate chips instead of semisweet, and added some almond flavor along with my homemade vanilla (beans soaking in cheap cognac). -- -Barb, Mother Superior, HOSSSPoJ http://web.me.com/barbschaller http://gallery.me.com/barbschaller/100041 -- a woman my age shouldn't have this much fun! |

Sounds good. I like to throw in raisins too. I like the raisin - chocolate combination. Which reminds me I used to have a raisin bran cereal bar cookie which also had chocolate chips. I lost the recipe years ago. I think I got it off a box of Kellogg's. Darn it but they were good. I think I lost it pre-internets. I should google around for it. -Tracy |

Although, the recipe doesn't look too bad. Has to be at least 20 years or more ago. Thanks though. ;-) Tracy |

When I deeply crave cc cookies (every couple of years or so),I want them to taste like butter, brown sugar, and the deepest chocolate possible and maybe pecans. Oatmeal? Fine for breakfast. Don't go messin' up my cookies with it, though. ;-) gloria p Jeremy's mother |

It's more a question of adulterating perfectly good oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips. Sheesh! Part of it was getting rid of that box of rolled oats. . .. . (Where's my espresso maker, btw? And have you heard back from the others in the deal? I can think of a good reason to do that. Chocolate chi[s go very well with oatmeal, and with oatmeal and raisins. > When I deeply crave cc cookies (every couple of years or so),I want them > to taste like butter, brown sugar, and the deepest chocolate possible > and maybe pecans. We finally ran out of the things I baked for Christmas and I had a hankering for chocolate chip cookies. It is a cold, snowy day here and my dog woke me up early, so I got a start on a project.... scanning pictures from an album. I was able to mutitask and do the cookies while I was scanning. So now I have fresh cookies and my project is complete. |
