Default Baking Bread Question

I just bought a bread machine which hasn't even arrived yet and now I'm
shopping around for bread mixes/flour.

I noticed that I can buy a 5 lb bag of bread flour for about $5, or I could
buy a a bag of bread mix for about $6 which only makes 1 loaf.

So what am I not getting in the bread flour that's in the bread mix, and
what are the advantages to using a bread mix.

What additional things would I have to buy if I bought the bread flour. How
much harder is it to use the bread flour vs a bread mix?

I am a total novice at this and I only bought the bread machine because I
was disgusted with the poor quality of store bought bread
and also the high price.

Thanks for any advice and tips regardng baking bread.
