Default Slab o' Caramel!

Today I acquired a one-pound slab of caramel (a free sample, one of my perks
as a buyer of candy!) What can I do with it, besides melt it and dip apple
slices in it?

Caramel corn. Make sure you add lots of peanuts.

Or make little sugar cookie balls with a bit of red food coloring.
When they're cooled use a toothpick and dip halfway in the caramel and
roll them in finely chopped nuts. Put them in mini muffin cups and
they look like toffee apples. People love them.

Melt it and toss with popcorn and nuts, press into a pan and cut into
bars.

Melt it and lavish it on decent vanilla ice cream (might be good with
chocolate too).

Over any sort of milk-based pudding, including bread-and-butter pudding.

Caramel cake or caramel topping on some other cake

Make caramel apples and roll them in chopped nuts, mini chocolate chips
and cut up marshmallows.

1. Deny yourself breakfast, lunch and dinner.
2. Cut it into 3/4 inch cubes
3. Make sure you have a half gallon of milk handy.
4. Eat it.

You buy candy for a living and you don't know what to do with
caramel?

This is what we were planning as a charity event when you kicked the
bucket.

It's better with rice crispies.

Caramel corn has to be baked at low temperature for an hour or the corn will
be soggy.

Rice crispies would be better if you don't want to bake it.

Buying candy (for resale) is just one small part of my job. I don't really
eat very much of it anymore, and I never cook it or cook with it.

I have a BH & G recipe for cookies called "Sandies," which are as you
describe - sugar cookies usually rise a little bit, but Sandies don't,
and just melt in your mouth. Good idea to make them look like
caramel apples ;-)

Louise always makes them in the fall. Whatever recipe she uses are as
you say, melt in your mouth. She used to use the wrapped little
caramels until I taught her how to make her own. Sure saves money
that way.
