I'm not about to buy any just to see if I can read the ingredients ;-)
About the only flavour of ice cream we buy is vanilla, sometimes
French vanilla. Breyers vanilla changed, both in flavour and texture.
After the first bad one we thought we'd just got a bad batch but, the
next one was the same strange taste and *goopy* texture.
Won't buy any more.

We've already got that here in Canada. Current price locally is $1.26
per liter. When I first started driving, $1.26 would have bought about
4 gallons. Granted, that was 1949.

The Stewart's web site location search shows a store at the corner of
Pomfret (rte 44) and Canal.

Glen in Manchester or the other one near Bolton and get their ice cream.

I've stopped there for lunch a few times when I get over that way. They
also make great cheeseburgers. They do have good ice cream too. I do get
over that way a couple of times a year.

I'll check that out this weekend. That is just over a mile from me. Where
the arrow points is an insurance office and an ATM but maybe they are doing
ice cream on the side. Shops have been moving around town again this year.
Seems as though every few years the same stores swap locations though so it
m ay have changed.

Yes, but the key is that they have half gallons of their ice cream for
sale as well. When I lived in CT that's where I would get ice cream, not
the grocery store.

I think the customer, if not the manufacturer, would greatly
benefit if there were a set of legally required sizes, say, 10g,
25g, 50g, 100g, 250g, 500g, 1kg. Make up your own Imperial or
customary if you like. The wine makers seem to be getting along
quite well with 375ml, 750ml and 1.5 liters.

Especially with ice cream, where the amount of air in the product
varies greatly. In the US, this can be up to 50%! To be fair, ice
cream should be sold by weight, not by volume. But what's fair in this
world?

FYI: Bags of flour may also be getting smaller. I recently saw an ad
for 3½ or 4 pound bags.
