All this talk of waffles, and I haven't made any in a while. So... Today I
made my usual rich waffle batter (still haven't gotten that malt flour yet), and baked them in my "traditional" waffle iron. Baked into the waffles were copious amounts of broken pecans and fresh red raspberries. Over the top went melted unsalted butter and warmed dark amber maple syrup. I drop frozen blueberries directly into the mix *on* the waffle iron before closing the lid. They turn out perfectly heated through but not overcooked and turned to mush. Should work with other berries as well. KW |

Kent BTW: If you're over 60 yrs you have a 40% chance of having the "metabolic syndrome" or prediabetes. Most of us should limit the glucose blast you get with pure maple syrup. I use the fake 0% sugar syrups with reasonable taste results once I got use to it. If you want to use the high sugar syrups you should make sure you fasting blood glucose is below 100 and also I would check my 2 hours post prandial glucose to see how much the syrup raises your glucose. |
