They're merely announcing frustration over their own impotence... it's obvious that what they really want (and are helpless to achieve) is the ability to prevent those of us who are superior from reading and commenting on their inferior and useless posts... it's always the killfile announcers who have nothing worthwhile to contribute. Unfortunately they think it's beneficial to publicly announce at every opportunity about their inferior medical condition, their shack-up's inferior medical condition, and that they're ***. Why would any normal person in a cooking group give a rat's b-hind about faggoted- fairyness... wait a second, I didn't mean any maleficences/ femaleficences towards rodent's rectums. Google was 150% better than that. > > You gotta be kidding me, Judith! <soapbox> IMNSHO, there is only *one* reason that one *has* to use Google Groups to read or post to Usenet groups, and that is when one is away from work/home on business/ vacation without one's own computer and one has to use a 'public' computer (or a friend's that doesn't have Usenet access and newsreader software installed). <shaddup Sheldon> There are many 'reliable' free news servers out there (e.g. news.motzarella.org, aioe.org - to name two) that allow reading and posting to Usenet groups. Same goes for free newsreaders (AFAIAA, all windoze users have the option to install OE - which is better than Google Groups any day, IMHO <shaddup -sw> - and Thunderbird - although far from perfect <shaddup Blinky> - is available free to download on either the windoze or linux platforms. And if one doesn't trust the 'free' news servers - there are plenty of them out there that charge peanuts (that's the OBFood Part 1) for reading/posting to Usenet Groups. FWIW, the only time I use Google Groups is to search for something from a text only newsgroup that was posted in 19-dot, as (for me) it's a convenient Usenet 'archive'. But... ever since Google 'upgraded' their Groups user interface it has become a nightmare to use (for me). I think it absolutely sucks, if you want my opinion - which I am sure you don't ![]() As for the gmail return addresses: even Thunderbird allows you to 'fudge' (that's the OBFood Part 2) one's email address that appears in one's posts... </soapbox> OK. Naw ....too late. I just KF'd google and 200 spams in 2 newsgroups (rfc, included) just vanished. That's good enough for me. If someone can't spring $5 for a decent service, they should pack it in. I know that's a bit harsh, but I've had enough. I'm not going to keep changing my scorefill to keep up with spammers. I've heard 99% of all spam originates from half a dozen points. If google, with all there power and know how can't deal with it, I can. Bye-bye, google! ![]() nb |

I kinda wonder how many lines some people's kill/scorefile contains. I certainly don't see any point in chasing individual addresses a dozen times a day and creating a huge scorefile. All those entries are going to be useless in 48 hours anyway, yet they'll stay there until you manually get rid of them (in most cases, unless you have them set to expire shortly). -sw |
