My pumpkin pie went in the oven att 5:00 am. I will start putting together

Turkey, well, >probably about 8:00 am. > I put mine in after midnight, thinking I should get started on cooking. I almost forgot to put in the eggs, but they made it at the last minute. I pre-baked my 10" pie crust in the oven, filled it with pie mixture and used a disposable pie tin with pre-made crust for the leftover mixture. Well, I forgot to take the oven off of convect, so 10 minutes into the 15 of cooking at 450°, I discovered that the small pie's crust was a deep, dark brown (almost black). Damn! Took it out to put foil around the edges, get it almost to it's resting place on a cook-top burner when the thing collapses in my hands. The tin went from flat to V shaped and pumpkin pie filling was spilled all over my burner. This is the type of cook-top that you have to raise the entire thing just to get at the drip pans, because I can't remove my coils - so I had another adventure in cleaning after the pie was put back into the oven. -- See return address to reply by email remove the smiley face first |

What a mess and awful experience. My pie came out perfectly, the turkey breast is in now, and the dressing is made awaiting baking. All the veggies are prepped and also awaiting cooking. I'm going to go take a nap for about and hour and a half... Thanks, I posted more adventures from last night in a new thread. I should have just started early like you. Instead, I decided to make things ahead of my comfort zone. We have a small turkey (which should take 4.5 hours to roast) because hubby doesn't like turkey, especially turkey leftovers, and we're not sure how much people will be eating because they are going to other T'giving gatherings before they settle here. I'm thinking maybe I'll get a ham to toss in the oven, if I can find one on sale today. We both like leftover ham. -- See return address to reply by email remove the smiley face first |

Something horrible seems to happen to it. I just found out recently that Honey-Baked Ham can now be purchased by the pound, which is what I will do in the future. I'm the only one who eats it in this house. -- Wayne Boatwright Thu, 11(XI)/22(XXII)/07(MMVII) ¦ Today is: Thanksgiving Day (U.S.) ¦ ¦ A mind is a terrible thing to lose... ¦ |_| _, _ _ | |(_||_)|_)\_| ___ | ._| | |_ _ ,_ |/ , _ . .,_ _ | | |(_|| ||\/_)(_|||/|| |(_| ._| ._

I did eat 2 slices of turkey, but I won't be eating any of the leftover. David loved the turkey, so leftovers of it won't be a problem. I'd also rather have ham, and I will do that at Christmas. -- Wayne Boatwright Thu, 11(XI)/22(XXII)/07(MMVII) ¦ Today is: Thanksgiving Day (U.S.) ¦ ¦ A mind is a terrible thing to lose... ¦ |_| _, _ _ | |(_||_)|_)\_| ___ | ._| | |_ _ ,_ |/ , _ . .,_ _ | | |(_|| ||\/_)(_|||/|| |(_| ._| ._
