Did you know that your abode is loaded with black mold, it's very
obvious in that picture.... extremely dangerous.

No, those are not paw prints all the way up to the ceiling... the mold
can be observed very clearly right up to and past the wall thermostat
and on up to the ceiling and very visible all along the door jambs, in
fact every wall surface in that photo is entirely covered with black
mold, it's in the sheetrock itself so no amount of washing will
help. That's definitely black mold, no maybe about it. Were you to
remove a section of sheetrock you will be shocked at what's growing
inside all your partitions.

You're in FL, the humidity in your house is obviously too high... is
your AC not running? Even if your AC is out of commission at least
get a couple of portable dehumidfiers going... of course it's already
too late, that house need to be professionally treated. Typically AC,
especially central air, does not wring out enough water before cooling
to the thermostat setting, then the house is cool but clammy, so you
should have a separate dehumidifier running regardless of AC...
especially if you have no basement and your house is on a slab, most
especially in FL weather. I'm in NY, I have a serious central air
system, but still, when it's not heating season, I run three portable
dehumidifiers, a 70 pint unit in the basement and two 25 pint units in
the house, one at each end... I maintain a 45pct humidity level.

If you don't take black mold seriously you are in for some very
unpleasant health consequences... among others black mold is a potent
carcinogen... I'll say no more.

Maybe you need corrective lenses... I think you just choose to close
your eyes by blaming the cat. I enlarged that picture and it's mold, a
horrible case of black mold, about as bad as it gets becaue it's not
isolated like from a leaky pipe, it's in the entire building. Didja
know that among other terminal illnesses black mold is responsible for
a deadly form of dementia.. an awful way to die, your brain will melt
like a rotten potato... by the time anyone notices you are as good as
dead.

That you've been treated with radiation/chemo you are at extremly high
risk, you need to get your butt out of there, not tomorrow, NOW!

Do you keep her nails clipped? If they are dull she shouldn't be
able to do so much damage.

Kili, my cats adore the "SuperScratcher", made by SmartyKat, box from
Wal-Mart. It is about as long as the keyboard and it is totally made
of cardboard and has catnip sprinkled on it.I buy the skinnier one.
When you open it up it is just corrugated cardboard but they love it.
They cost about 4 or 5 dollars here at Wal-Mart in Kona, and maybe
they'd be cheaper there. The cats just love it! As an economical
hint, when they have scratched the hell out of one side, you can pull
the cardboard away from the box, turn it over, tape the ends because
it is now loose in that purple box, and they will start scratching it
again. I think it is a lifesaver. I have about 4 of them for my 2
cats and they use it daily. Good luck!

Clipping nails is okay but not really necessary, won't solve the
scratching problem, cats NEED to scratch... only a *proper* scratching
post will (ideally a six foot long one foot diamerter hardwod log,
bark on), the post needs to be longer than the cats can stretch when
fully extended, about 48" is adequte for most house cats, longer is
better, and needs to be of substantial construction... those pidly
toys r us thingies sold at pet stores are ridiculously inadaquate. I
have six cats and none claw anything but their posts (I have three
different ones). Declawing a cat is tantamount to pulling the wings
off butterflies and sodomizing three year olds, only truly sick
mother****ers declaw. I have a trio of hefty white birch logs in my
basement, those get a good workout daily. Upstairs I have a rather
large and sturdy post made of 2" X 6" lumber wrapped with commercial
carpeting and manilla rope... I'm sure some of yoose must have noticed
it in my pictures.

This one is their favorite, I have it in the basement, actually
*their* basement: http://www.caws.org/ladder.html

Those who have a problem with destructive clawing knoow nothing about
cats and don't deserve to have any... not knowing that cats need a
proper scratching post is tantamount to not knowing that goldfish need
water.

She has already admitted to having black mold, by saying her AC died a
year ago, she knows there's a black mold problem... but answers the
dilemma with lack of funding and blaming the cat... they can/will
write that on her tombstone; kili died of too much pussy. Using the
cat as a diversion does nothing to alleviate the problem... cat's
scratching contributes nothing whatsoever to promulgating black mold.
Kili is simply too embarrassed to deal with her real problem, that
useless two legged one. If she visits her personal problems on this
newsgroup (it's
really a cry for help) then she loses her right to complain when
anyone confronts her with the truth. Peter, you choose to support her
with patronizing claptrap then that makes you her worst enemy.

Best advice given yet.

Sheldumb, you need to "just go away."

Kilikini... Shadows and paw-prints are what were photoged. Don't
worry about Sheldumb's pewling spew.

Christy....... he's ****ing with your head........ and he's a complete
arsehole for doing it.

Killfile the prick and be done with him.

You don't need shit like that, or like him, in your life.

(Just an objective point of view.)

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, so you let the cat run your life!!

My girl.........

http://i23.tinypic.com/do2yjd.jpg

gets that same attitude about once every 12-18 months.

She has a 'go' at me, I show her who's the 'top dog'...... and
everything is fine.
She takes her anger out on anyone that comes onto the property :-)

Cats have been 'revered' for too long. It's time the snooty *******s
were shown that they are a *pet*, and not the damn householder!!!

(BTW, my CA wife had 3 of them, all "adopted". One was a psycho. Used to
try and kill everyone that tried to pick it up, even her. Never did it
to me though :-)

A gentler hint rather than declawing............ get a water
pistol/gun/cannon.

Everytime the little sucker starts to scratch somewhere it isn't
allowed, hit her with the water.
She'll soon learn.

I wouldn't give her a bath but she'd get her nails clipped, that's
for sure.

Kili, you might look into a Cat Carrier to aid in giving you cat a
bath. A neighbor of mine has this one, and it seems to work dandy!

A can of compressed air works wonders, too.

That is a good question. How *do* you encourage a cat to scratch where you
want it to?

I have never used these, but I have heard a vet suggest using these
nail tips (or a similar version):

http://www.softpaws.com/faqs.html

I might be inclined to let the groomer do this till the cat is
comfortable with the application. Go ahead and give kitty a bath at
the same time! ;-) But, if money is an issue, I'd get hubby to help
hold the feisty fur ball down.

Ah, now on to cat scratching posts ... My two (brother and sister)
have never liked any form of carpeted posts until Bob and I are in
PetsMart and he comes over with this really cool looking S-shaped
thing. Has a sisal mat on it and a tightly woven carpet, looks like an
the S is laying on it's left side, with a small ball dangling from the
upright of the lower part of the S. I wish I could describe it
adequately. Looks like it belongs in our living room -- very stylish.
It was the only one they had, and the price tag was missing, so they
sold it to us for $9.99 -- it's easily a $30-$50 scratcher. My cats
LOVE LOVE LOVE this thing. I looked at the tag last night and it's
made by a group called PetLinks Systems. However, they website has
basic info and it's not interactive. It doesn't show that particular
model. PetsMart doesn't even show it as part of their stock, so I have
no idea how it got there to begin with.

Lucky and Domino do like those corrugated cardboard box scratchers,
but they leave such a mess, so I don't have those anymore.

One other thing -- have you tried "Sticky Paws"? It is a clear, wide
adhesive, like a double-sided tape. They go up for the stretch and
scratch and their paws hit sticky. They don't like that much either. I
used it with furniture on previous cats. Mixed results.

Try a little catnip, just rub it on the post. My cats love it.

My father has a story of someone he worked with who was killed by
compressed air. Don't know the details and don't want to. Be careful.
