Default Newbie - cook beans and rice, then freeze

Might try this -

Put mixed beans, lentils, split peas and rice (super pulse mix!) into
slow cooker.
Once cooked and cooled off, put portions inside foil, then into
freezer.

To eat pulse mix portion, what should I do? Options could be -

Defrost portion or cook from frozen?
Microwave or steam portion?
How about oven cook portion?

If oven cooked, the foil wrap could be useful. Would adding a dash of
(olive) oil help?

Thanks for any advice, regards, Robert.

Lose the foil... use microwaveable storage containers.

I dunno. "Sheldon" always reminds me of that cartoon (duck?) that never
hatched out of the egg properly - and only his widdle feet stuck out

A FoodSaver & a microwave are good. Just make portion sized bags,
fill with your stuff(leave enough room for sealing), freeze just long
enough to solidify the mix, & vacuum seal. Voile! Leftovers

season the mix in the crockpot before cooking, pepper, garlic and perhaps
pinch of crushed red pepper flakes...use the microwave...a little olive
oil prior to reheating might be ok.

maybe cook the mix in chicken, veggie or beef broth for more flavor.

Sheldon's right. Get yourself some proper storage containers. You
can buy them anywhere... the grocery store, Target, the local dollar
store. Freeze in meal sized portions, reheat in the microwave.

No, but a splash of water will help thin it out. Everything with
beans seems to be thickers after a while.
