Those Two Fat Ladies are my favorite to watch. I have all their eps on DVD, and I love the back stories, their humor etc., but their recipes are usually too involved for me to care about trying too many of them, even the occasional healthy one. I have only ever seen her Christmas and thanksgiving specials and random
spots on other shows. my only beef with her is she waited until she could monetize her illness with her son having a show and them both being spokespeople for big pharma. the few times I saw her she in NO way said this was a "sometimes" food.. Even then I wouldnt care but I watched her sons show..it the age old replace the fat with less fat and it's "healthy" now garbage. he replaced the glazed doughnut with a whole grain one and declared it healthy. their one type 2 diabetic recipe on their new site replaces the meat in the lasagna with a leaner meat I wasnt one of the people laughing at her for getting sick..but I did take a closer look as to what she was selling then and more importantly what she is selling now. some poor fool is going to think they can eat lasagna and doughnut burgers just like Paula as long as they reduce the fat in the recipe and of course take whatever drug she is pushing. sad.. Angela doesn't like ground beef. I don't really know why. It's not like I ever gave her a ton of it. She thinks she doesn't like beef. But some of her favorite foods are steak prepared in Mexican ways, and roast beef au jus with pasta. She also likes my meatloaf but I do lighten it up a lot with veggies. My loaves are about half beef and half veggies with a little oatmeal thrown in. I don't remember my mom ever making porcupine meatballs although she claims she did. The first time I remember having them was in high school. We had a room at our school with a kitchen in it. It was supposed to be the Foreign Language Lounge where we could go to study our foreign languages. But nobody ever used it for that. I donated some furniture and several of us got together at lunch time. We'd take turns bringing lunch. Mostly it was stuff we had cooked at home and would reheat there. There was no microwave so we must have had an hour lunch in those days. I also had Shepard's Pie for the first time in there. |

I have no idea if my kids liked it or not as my first husband took no crap at the table. You ate, you ate it all and you never complained. |

As far as I'm concerned, she's so stuck up that she thinks her excrement isn't maloderous. Some dying eight or ten year old kid on Make-A-Wish Foundation said that before he died, he wanted to cook with Ima. Well, I guess he wasn't cute (good looking) enough, so she was too busy and had to turn him down. Make-A-Wish Foundation applied again. Same result. I don't watch her anymore. -- Nick, KI6VAV. I think she has a rather forced nervous sort of a laugh, but that could just be her trying to appear jovial for the camera. She is a very good cook, however. As for the make-a-wish thing, I wouldn't judge her too harshly for that. Not everyone is suited to it, and just because she has a cooking show doesn't mean she is obligated to reply positively to anyone who asks. Maybe she was too touched by it and didn't think she could hold her emotions in check. I always think the best of people rather than the worst.... especially people I don't know personally. Some people here are FAR too judgemental, saying they hate this one or that one. These folks are PEOPLE just like we are. They have fears, wishes, anxieties, health challenges, etc. etc. Just like we do. And just for the heck of it, I will BET you that Ina has diabetes issues as well. A lot of cooks do, especially the overweight ones....just like the rest of us. Evelyn |

Her laid back way of cooking, no frenzy etc., is soothing. She and Jeffrey don't have children so she might not be comfortable with children she doesn't know. I think it's a bit over the top for you to even suggest that the kid might not have been "cute enough" since you're speculating about something that you have no inside knowledge about. Cheri |

Cheri, You might note that the first sentence in my entire post began with, "As far as I'm concerned." Secondly, my 'suggestion' about the kid not being cute enough was preceded by "I guess." BTW I have seen the kid in question. He's NOT cute! But he is a human being and he's a kid who's dying. Finally, I stay my hand with regard to you thinking what I said was over the top. -- Nick, KI6VAV. I can't stand to watch Ina. Although her food looks good she has such a monotone voice and for some weird reason she is always inviting people over to eat. I like the Neely's! I know some people can't stand them but they seem real to me. |

But her house is so immaculate! Hre talble is always set so beatifully! And her wines are always perfect! I haven't watched her since the abovementioned incident. > I like the Neely's! Don't know how they can get away with calling it fried. |

Don't know how they can get > away with calling it fried. How is that NOT fried? Scoop ice cream into 8 - 1/2 cup sized balls. Place on baking sheet and freeze until firm, about 1 hour. In a shallow dish, combine cornflakes and cinnamon. In another dish, beat egg whites until foamy. Roll ice cream balls in egg whites, then in cornflakes, covering ice cream completely. Repeat if necessary. Freeze again until firm, 3 hours. In deep fryer or large, heavy saucepan, heat oil to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Using a basket or slotted spoon, fry ice cream balls 1 or 2 at a time, for 10 to 15 seconds, until golden. Drain quickly on paper towels and serve immediately. |
