Default New Years Foods!

What are you planning to serve this year? I just don't know what I will
make. I do have some black eyed peas. I LOVE those and that's about the
only time I eat them. Angela and my husband hate them but will usually
humor me and eat one.

I am getting pretty low on food so will have to buy some more on Friday. We
did stop at Costco today. Got some delicious Irish cheese, sliced apples,
baby carrots, grape tomatoes, Romaine and hummus.

I do have taco shells and some Mexican seasoned chicken. I have beef
tamales and cheese taquitos. I guess I could do a Mexican thing.

Is there some sort of big football game on New Year's day? If so my husband
will probably want some sort of finger foods.

I just don't know what to make.

Yeah. I'm going for easy too. Anything complicated is just wasted on this
family! Hmmm... Maybe I'll just make nachos!

Ick. I used to like pancakes in a former life. They are no good now as
gluten free and egg free plus then there is the syrup. By the time you add
that, waaaay too many carbs. And I could do without the sausage.

I have a Center Cut pork roast on order. We will be having our usual pork
and sauerkraut...Hubby PA Dutch, and My Grandfather was from Germany, so we
stick to tradition. There will be Mashed potatoes and corn, and applesauce.
I would love spiced apples or crab apples, but they are hard to find
anymore. There also will be biscuits. My Daughter and her husband and Lexi
will be here for their Pork and SK...after they go to his sisters house for
Menudo....he is Hispanic.

I have never made a pork roast but I think my husband would like it. He is
from PA.

I bought a massive pork leg for $20 yesterday, lots of fat for the
crackling. Saving it for Wednesday as we have one son turn 17 on Tuesday
and one 22 on Thursday. So having a combined birthday roast dinner.
Roast potatoes, pumpkin, onions. Plus greens, apple sauce, mint jelly
and pork gravy. Will get their dad to being a choc mud cake as its the
only one they like. This will help make up for Christmas dinner We
did have a cold Christmas dinner which their dad and his partner brought
with them but the kids love their roast dinner.

That sounds great. Happy birthday to yer boys! Mmmmm. Choc mud cake.

I eat a lot of pork, mostly cooked Thai styles. I thought Jun had bought
some Oz lamb for me for New Year, but I just asked her what cut it was. She
said, "Not yet!" I know she bought me a bottle of Rum, because I saw it!
I'll be damned if I'll wait 'til 26 January to drink it!

Nobody will eat the black eyed peas but me and I know I wouldn't eat the
pork. Not sure if Angela would. Might make it some time when he will be
home for a few days to eat the leftovers.

Whoa! You can get their dad to be a choc mud cake? If I could turn my
husband into something edible all my problems might be solved! Well my
grocery ones anyway...

My Mother always served pork ribs with Sauerkraut for New Years. Hubby says
ribs are to much work...he is a lazy eater...LOL. When I ordered the center
cut loin I told them to make sure it had a saddle of fat on it...of course
they gave me one without fat...to late to tell them to give me another. he
next time I order one I will bring a picture with me to show them what I
want

I have never had ribs. They just look greasy, messy and unappealing. My
mom never once served them. Nor did she serve Sauerkraut because she and my
dad don't like it. I'm not sure I've ever had it. I'm not a big fan of
cabbage.
