Default Tonight's dinner

I had two molars extracted today, after sinus surgery last week. Told my
daughter no solid food, just soup. She ran a can of Clam Chowder through a
strainer and just gave me broth. It was a nice treat. Just chicken broth
tomorrow. My FBG was 86. I should've checked my PP BG.

I had Carne Deshebrada, green beans and black olives. Angela had chicken
breasts in gravy and corn. We also had some mashed potatoes.

Ouch, sinus surgery and dental surgery in a week's time is a lot to
handle! But you are blessed with a loving family to care for you and
I hope you heal up quickly Nick.

Let's see...last night we had grilled lamb. I chopped up two small
lamb shoulder steaks and marinated them a few days in yogurt and lots
of spices. With it, I had a tablespoon of my husband's couscous and a
big bowl of his everything-in-the-crisper vegetable soup (with a big
squirt of chili sauce for me ;-) I also fried up a couple of
pappadums to go my homemade cilantro lime chutney.

I have to work late tonight and so will eat late, probably just
leftover soup.

Thanks, Rica. I'm pretty much healed already. Antibiotics and salt water
gargle. Put the Hydrocodone in the medicine cabinet.

Mmmm. Lamb! I put some hot sauce in my chowder, too.

Careful on your drive home! I like to grate some cheese on leftover soup,
then nuke it 'till it's bubbling.

Thanks, Nicky. I stopped taking aspirin a week before the nose job, so my
haemostasis is excellent. As soon as the doc OK's it, I'll start again.

Thanks, Wendy. The root of the rearmost molar was wrapped around my
jawbone. Even with the extra novacaine, and her gently (?) rocking it out,
it was quite uncomfortable! Bleeding stopped within 12 hours. I feel fine,
now.

Nick I hope you feel better really soon! I am so fearful of dental work.
I have no idea how I ever got the courage to have a whole mouth restoration
a few years ago. Thank goodness it is done and over with!

Thanks, Evelyn. I don't have the money for a restoration. I just chew on

I have a very unhealthy fear of the Dentist, I have a wisdom tooth that will
probably have to be pulled..and the rest of my teeth aren't so hot either. I
get physically ill if I have to wait to long...I need someone to give me a
valium before I go..and would be happy if they knocked me out. When I was a
young teen I would get cold sores after I got my teeth worked on...they
thought I was allergic to the Novocain....they didn't understand cold sore
much back then...or at least Dentists didn't. So from then on they worked on
my teeth without and thing.....Once I became an Ault the only time I would
go to the Dentist is if I had an abscess. I told my Dr one day about the
allergy to Novocain and cold sores...he sat down and told me that was not
an allergic reaction...it was a stress to my lips reaction. The fear had
already been embedded deeply. When we were stationed in AK the Base Dentist
would do the Dependants teeth...stateside they would only do emergency
stuff. I explained to the Dentist my fear...he took his time with me and if
I felt any discomfort at all he would stop and refreeze the area. After I
left AK I found the fear came back...I need to fined another Dentist that
understands my fears

Years ago a friend of mine had to have nose surgery...they packed it with
Cocaine ...needless to say he didn't feel much pain for awhile They told
us at the hospital that the cocaine was in a special safe and the cocaine
had to be signed out by three people.

Thanks, Jacquie. Tonight, my daughter made me a nice bowl of salmon soup
(chowder?) with lots of white pepper and fresh grated cheese. Mmmm!

I found a certain dentist who was especially wonderful with fearful
patients. Only then did I have the whole mouth restoration. I wasn't
afraid of him.

Wow, you still have a wisdom tooth! Mine came in like swiss cheese and
came out as soon as they came in. At least I didn't have those imempacted
ones that came in kind of sideways. Now that was a major pain! Of
course, it was done while you were young and resiliant:-)

Mine were impacted. The top two, the dentist just yanked out. I don't
remember getting any pain killer or anything, although there might have
been. He said it was gonna hurt but not as much as they had been hurting
me, which was a lot. They came out quickly.

The bottom two had to be cut out. It wasn't fun at all. They had to put me
under. When I came to, they were asking me why I kept going on and on about
turtles? I have no clue.

The worst part was I had it done two days before my birthday so my parent's
insurance would pay for it. I was going to turn 19. So I didn't get any
good food for my birthday. I couldn't chew anything.

They let me keep my bottom wisdom teeth because I lost some teeth and the
wisdom teeth moved forward, and I am actually using them for chewing. All of
my kids had to have their wisdom teeth removed.(Small mouths) My youngest
had a jaw like Jay Leno, he also had to have a spreader on his top pallet
for a year then was put into braces after pulling six teeth. When he turned
18...and he finished growing, they did surgery and removed part of the jaw
and in upper part was filled in with titanium ...his jaw was wired shut for
8 weeks. The AF did all of the work...but before they could do it his
records had to be sent to Washington DC...in the end it was considered a
Medical and Dental problem. He now has a very nice jaw line

My Daughter had hers pulled two days before Thanksgiving...we put the turkey
and gravy and mashed potatoes in a blender ... All of my kids were knocked
out to have their wisdom teeth pulled.
Years ago I had an abscessed tooth pulled (I couldn't afford a root canal)
when the Dr started putting the stitches in he asked me if I had Diabetes
....I asked why , he said my gums were real spongy and he only saw those kind
of gums in Diabetics. This was in 1976....I was diagnosed in 94-95

I got new eye glasses not long before I was diagnosed with diabetes. I can
remember the eye Dr. asking me several times if I was diabetic? I can't
remember now if I mentioned the GD or not. I think Angela was just a few
months old then.

The glasses turned out to be useless and I had to replace them a couple of
years later. I think the high BG affected my vision.

I can remember asking my mom why he would keep asking me if I were diabetic?
She said she thought he asked all of his patients that. I could understand
it if he asked me once. But he asked several times. I didn't think to ask
why.

It was, Jacquie. Tonight was a small bowl of spaghetti with a garlicy olive
oil sauce (aglia olio) plus fresh grated cheese.

Soul food for a Sichy. Sai's making spicy shrimp for me tonight. I don't
know if it'll be Fra Diavolo or Thai style. I'll be posting a pic on
alt.binaries.food.
