Default New Food Saver rolls

When I looked for new Food Saver rolls I found them in undistinguished
green boxes instead of the predominately red ones. I looked them over
for some time because they seemed sort of like a generic ripoff, but
they had all the chops.

However, my first experience has been bad. I'm not getting a decent
seal. The problem is that I don't know whether it's the tube that's
defective or whether it's a coincidence that my machine sickened at the
time I bought the roll.

Has anyone else found a definite and noticeable difference between what
is being sold now and the old product?

I have one roll so far and see no difference.

To do a test, try sealing a plain bag just to see if the heater strip is
working. If yes, try a bag with a nice clean edge again. Any of the old
bags in the freezer that you can use for comparison?

Actually I did one. I bagged a pair of my kitchen shears and kept them
around awhile to see if the seal would break, figuring I'd see it in the
holes in the handle. Nothing went wrong. Perhaps I was just using it
wrong.

So it really is the Food Saver real brand? Funny to take something as
identifiable as their old packaging and go to some bland thing that
looks like a generic...

Thanks

I wondered that myself. Companies do not easily make major packaging changes
and risk loss of brand ID.
