Default Cast Iron Stripping/cleaning

hello,
I am brand new here and I guess this has been covered before, but how do I
strip cast iron cooking ware. If its been covered here before, where do I find it?

I throw it in my woodburning stove when it is full of red hot coals and go
to bed.
