This excellent chocolate cake recipe is moist and delicious, and it's very easy to make. It's a one bowl cake, topped with a simple chocolate frosting.
Prep Time: 25 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Ingredients:

* 4 (1 oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate
* 1/2 cup butter
* 1 cup water
* 2 cups flour
* 2 cups sugar
* pinch of salt
* 1/2 cup buttermilk
* 1-1/4 tsp. baking soda
* 2 eggs, beaten
* 1 tsp. vanilla
* 2 (1 oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate
* 1/4 cup butter
* 1/2 cup milk
* 4 cups powdered sugar
* 2 tsp. vanilla

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large saucepan, melt 4 squares chocolate and 1/2 cup butter in the hot water and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add flour, sugar and salt. Mix well with a wire whisk or eggbeater. Then stir in buttermilk, baking soda, eggs and vanilla and beat until smooth. Pour into 13x9" pan and bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes, until the top springs back when touched with a fingertip.

While the cake is baking, make the frosting. In a heavy saucepan, melt 2 squares chocolate and 1/4 cup butter together. Add powdered sugar, milk, and 2 tsp. vanilla and beat well. You may need to add more milk or powdered sugar to reach the desired consistency: the frosting should be pourable. W

hen the cake comes out of the oven, let cool for 15 minutes, then pour the frosting over. Spread if necessary, and let the cake cool. 16 servings

Recipie for a delicious chocolate!

Ingredients:
1) butter for baking dish
2) 1/3 cup sugar, plus more for baking dish
3) 3 large eggs, separated
4) 2 ounces good quality bittersweet chocolate
5) tiny pinch salt
6)1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

Directions:
1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter two 2-cup or one 4-cup soufflé or other deep, straight-sided oven-proof dish. Sprinkle with sugar, then invert and tap to remove excess.
2) Break chocolate into pieces and place in heat-proof bowl over simmering water until melted. Let cool slightly.
3) Beat egg yolks with all but 1 tablespoon sugar until very light and thick. Keep going until mixture falls in a ribbon from the beaters. Mix in the melted chocolate until well combined.
4) Wash beaters thoroughly - fat from the egg yolks will prevent the whites from expanding. Beat egg whites with salt and cream of tartar until foamy, then gradually add the remaining tablespoon of sugar. Beat until whites are stiff and glossy.
5) Stir a large spoonful of whites into the egg yolk mixture to lighten it, then fold in the rest with a rubber spatula. Transfer mixture to prepared dish.
6) Bake until center is almost set, about 20 minutes for individual soufflés and 25 to 35 minutes for one large. Don't overbake. Serve immediately.

Serves 2

If you want to make this ahead of time, complete through step 5, then cover tightly and refrigerate. Preheat oven, then bake as directed.
