Default I'll be lookin' for cue in Alaska

Well, we're outta here for two weeks headed to Alaska. (ok,
ok, settle down... enough applause... I'm coming back. ;-)
) I'm gonna definately check out the local cuisine. I know
that they smoke a ton of salmon (hopefully some of which
will be caught by yours truely). I don't know if other
things are popular up there but I'll keep my eyes peeled.

No clue on any advice, but I do know how to say "have a great trip". See
you when you get back.

Thanks guys,

Back, and beat but it was fun. I'd go back but I'd do it a
lot differently.

Anyway, as for the 'cue up there, pretty much a no-go. I did
have some reindeer ribs in Talkeetna (the town that the TV
show Northern Exposure was "based" on). Nothing to write
home about though. Way too much sauce and while I can't
prove it, I'd bet that they were done in the oven which
really surprised me. The Alaskan Amber Ale was damn tasty
though! ;-D

Excellent smoked salmon though, as you'd expect. Wild salmon
is about 100 times better than farm raised.

I'd post more but just got in from a brutal trip home and
need to get re-acquainted with my pillow. ;-)

Steve,

I spend a fair amount of time in AK, but I've had a hard time finding really
good 'cue there. You might try Wayne's Original Texas BBQ, Sourdough Mining
Company, or Chili's Bar and Grill and sometimes Chilcoot Charlies -- but
none of those are anything to write home about.

On the other hand, when in downtown Anchorage don't miss The Snow Goose, and
especially don't miss Humpy's Tavern. Humpy's has the best beer battered
halibut fish/chips ever and outstanding microbrews. The place looks like a
hole in the wall... well it is, but that's frequently where to find the best
chow.

Have fun!
