Those of you who use Google Groups, instead of a real newsreader, need to
start quoting a bit of the text you are replying to. Since most newsreaders are configured to delete previously read messages in a thread, it appears that you are replying to something out of thin air. Please take the time to do it right. -- Dave www.davebbq.com |

Often this is a problem due to the user not being aware of the way to do so in Google. There are some instruction in my .sig below. You can also reference this web site: http://cfaj.freeshell.org/google for more detailed instructions and useful links. Brian -- Please quote enough of the previous message for context. To do so from Google, click "show options" and use the Reply shown in the expanded header. |

Next time, try to target your audience a little bit better... |

Which means that you were excluded from my request, right? Perhaps you may wish to target you replies appropriately? -- Dave www.davebbq.com |

That said... Yes, your first post was targeted at me as a user of Google Groups. Nowhere in your OP did you say "Google group users who don't quote need to start because..." Instead, you came off, IMHO, in a fiery manner by saying "Those of you who use Google Groups, instead of a real newsreader,..." To which I responded in a fiery manner. Either way, both our points were made. Let's call it done. Jon |

Being web-based, there is always the possibility of browser-dependent behavior. My own bit of anecdotal evidence is that I used nothing but Google for four months at the start of 2005, and occasionally even after signing up with news.individual.net (a reasonably-priced usenet provider) and never saw such behavior. After all, the quoted text is in your message, and can be edited. Where could it go exactly?
