You go to GG, then advanced search, then find the thread you're looking for. Once you have the thread, find the post you want, then click on "original message", which will show all the headers, including Message-ID:. You all use GG ....which is why yer all KFd!.... but don't know spit about how it works. Whatta bucha maroons! Don't bother replying, as I won't see it. nb -- eschew obfuscation |

If you bothered to look at the headers in her post, you'd see that she uses Forte Agent and the Forte NNTP service. I can only guess at the reason she asked how to retrieve a Message ID when using Google Groups. Bob |

I use GG and Thunderbird 8.0 and I'd sure be interested in knowing in what these more powerful features and capabilities that a real reader/NNTP server combo is capable of. What newsreader are you using? > > Please don't do that again, Bob. There's nothing to be gained from > encouraging the lazy to be lazier. > |

Who needs those "special" features when most of them are of no benefit whatsoever in day to day reading of postings? The ability to filter all those "undesirables" who use GG seems to be the main reason for a dedicated "reader". |

The ability to filter all those "undesirables" who use GG seems to be the main reason for a dedicated "reader". I'm really starting to get excited to hear about all the powerful and wonderful things these programs will do for me. Hopefully, its not all about filtering out undesirables because Thunderbird has a super nice one that I don't use - I'm just great at ignoring folks without resorting to artificial means. 🎅🎄ðŸŽðŸŽ‰ |

OTOH, it looks like it has a heavy duty set of binary file handlers and some pretty good options for batch downloading. I can't say there's much value for me in that - it brings to memory the bad old days of the 90s. I'm surprised that people still do that sort of thing. That's the breaks. |

Who needs those "special" features when most of them are of no benefit whatsoever in day to day reading of postings? The ability to filter all those "undesirables" who use GG seems to be the main reason for a dedicated "reader". I've had to tinker with this, and it might not work on the latest GGGUI, but this works for me. You don't have to see any posters or threads you don't want to, thanks to Greasemonkey. http://www.penney.org/google-groups-...-released.html |

Gee, thanks. That means Chemo was right after all, It can't be done. |
