I just set my reader to reject anything posted to more then one group. Otherwise,
I'd be falling into that trap all the time.

I prefer the warning--some groups I frequent are allied closely enough
that crossposting's not the big nasty it is in many groups.

Well, I would see it in Newsgroups: if I looked, but when I'm responding to
a (formerly) trusted friend, or in the fog of war, I sometimes get careless
and do the same dumb**** thing! Goddamn it! Funny. I always notice it right

I could do that, but sometimes there are x-posts between here and a.b.f or
alt.food.asian, or even alt.food.sushi, that I don't want to miss. So I
just kick myself and some other dumb**** in the ass every now and again.

Agent only allows that if at least one other group in the list is in
my subscribed groups list.
However, I collect from about 5 newsfeeds, and use Hamster to combine
them. Hamster allows filtering on "xpost>N" where N is anything from
1 upward. I filter out posts when N is 3 or more.

Well, that's the reason I use Hamster--it effectively is my news
server. By reading from several sources and combining, I pretty much
never miss any posts.
