I use Diamond brand "Strike-Fire" parafin sticks to light my chimney. They work just like sterno and are quite convenient. They're pretty inexpensive, probably no more then sterno. Very convenient. I light the chimney with the turkey fryer burner. It's dry as a bone here too, and windy as all get out. My biggest concern is getting the coals dumped without getting some in my flip-flops, or having them blow out of sight into a pile of dry leaves. I stand vigilant until the lid is on the WSM. I have the hose at the ready and if the shit hits the fan I'll make the call and pay the piper. I'd rather call 911 than burn my neighbors houses down. Tan and happy in south Floriduh, TFM® |
