Dear HLW - The American Wine Society has local chapters all over the
country. Here in Kansas City our Cellarmasters Club members all make wine
and quite a few grow grapes. I'm not sure if all of the chapters have
members who make wine or are just interested in good wines. Here's the list
for NY.

Thanks very much Bill !! My wife and I make wine out of mostly fruit we
grow and are trying to start a small vineyard. We make maple syrup too
and that's our latest wine experiment, maple syrup wine. It tastes just
like maple walnut ice cream. It would be fun to find others with
similar interests to experiment with or on. Thanks again for your help.

I'm in northern Saratoga county, so the winemaking club that I know
about wouldn't be of any assistance to you. (I don't go to the one
"near" me, since it's an hour away, and I've no desire to repeat my
commute on a day off ;-)

Although I can't point you directly to a winemaking club, you might try
one of your "local" home brew shops for clubs in the area. IIRC, there
used to be a brew shop in Watertown, and you should be able to find
something in Syracuse.

Hartlandwine,
I live in GA now but made wine with a great crew in syracuse consuming over
10,000lb. of CA Central Valley grapes annually (I continue the tradition in
GA). I know their order is already placed but may be able to shoehorn in 5
or 10 gallons of vinifera somewhere. Please email me directly (juxtaposing
the two consanants in the first name of my email addy) if you're interested.
