Default Merlot / Cabernet Sauv blend - can it be enjoyed young?

I'm in the process of making a 50/50 merlot / cab sauv blend. From
what I have read both should be aged, especially the cab. I'm looking
for some opinions on what would be the minimum I should wait before
drinking. I was hoping to be able to start drining the wine in January
, but am wondering if 3 months will be long enough? Will it taste very
tannic and harsh after only 3 months? What can I expect?

Thanks.
