.... I just kicked off with 2 gallons of elderflower, initial SG 1106,
and the fermentation is chugging away quite famously. I can't remember a better spring in S. England for a long time; the domestic plums, damsons and sloe bushes around are all bursting with young fruit forming - looks like being a good year! Hi!
Glad to hear the season is going well. I'm picking rhubarb and freezing it for a batch of wine later on. Currently, I'm working on a herb wine - oregano. We've had tons of rain here in southern Wisconsin, so if we get some sunshine along with it, strawberries should be good in about a month or so. Darlene "Robin Somes" > wrote in message ... > ... My own strawberries are strictly for eating, so I think the next batch will probably be gooseberry. Not sure it's as good as last year (?), but time will tell. Up here in Scotland things are obviously a bit slower. I don't make Elderflower anymore but the roses are coming (and I'm considering another Hawthorn blossom). I'm pushing the Rhubarb for another week or two. Other fruits won't be along for a while, and I really go for maximum ripeness so I'll be looking at July-September being the height of most harvesting really. Ben |
