Default Tuscany Tasting

#/Vintage/Name/My Score/Group Score

1 2007 Camigliano Sant'Amo cabernet 87 / 84

Really a rare great value. has the right cab notes for a small price (8E!). red fruits, earthy, textured finish.
People were like "OMG this is really above the typical first wine. really sets the level high for the tasting."

2 2010 Chianti Classico Meleto 79 / 84

Red cherry , bitter finish.
People generally thought it was a good one. Above what they normally drink, except the french guys.

3 2008 Black Label Riserva Chianti Classico Meleto 90 / 86

Uuh, now we're talking. Dissolved darker berries, long smoky finish.

4 2009 Toscana ROSSO IGT Meleto 88 / 86

Smoother, maybe merlot in the mix? confirmed on the website. candied orange peel. French guys enjoyed this.

5 2010 Riserva Chianti Classico Meleto -/ 87

Too young. is a single vineyard version of #3, Im disappointed. Could be an age thing. Not scoring it.

6 2005 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano La Braccesca 90 / 86

Savoury, fresh acid, less tannin, darker fruits. Not much experience with vino nobile. should check out more.

7 2013 Pian Delle Vigne rosso di montalcino 89 / 88

The 2012 I had bought was corked, so got a 2013 instead as 2012 was sold out. annoying. 2012 was better (could be age). more astringent, so age 1 year before drinking.

8 2001 Pian Delle Vigne Brunello 95 / 94

ooh la la. Dissolved dark fruit, dusty ( I love dusty!) grainy tannins (I love grainy tannins). cedar, tobacco as tuscans should have!

9 2007 FIORE, Castello di Meleto 90 / 91

marcipan! lol. red fruits, hot, long finish

10 2006 Rainero, Castello di Meleto 92 / 91

Darker fruit, better than fiore, cigarbox , chocolate.

11 2012 Lucente - / 84

What is this? Not the lucente I know ( last I had was 2006 though). People around the table was disappointed as I had already said it is my go to tuscan. Fruity, astringent, fresh acids. not scoring.

12 2009 Rosie 91 / 92

a mix of 7+10, fullbodied fruits, leather, choclate, cigar.

13 2009 Bramasole Cortona Syrah La Braccesca 93 / 93

Still amazing, and annoying they doubled the price recently. smoke, broken black fruit, happy smell. but its pricier than some good Cornas'.

Two french participants said that they are not used to Italian wine and it's a bit strange to them. Their scores lowered the averages a bit.
