Default 1990 Chateau Montrose

I was at my farm for the weekend and found a couple packages of last
falls lamb so I thawed out some loin chops and went rummaging around
my cellar at the farm and found a bottle of 1990 Chateau Montrose.
I've had a ton of variation in this particular wine so I popped the
cork and decanted it expecting the worst but was surprised. The wine
was still quite deep and dark in color. The aroma of cassis was the
first thing that got my attention as in some cases the overwhelming
smell of horse manure dominated. The wine was very supple on the
palate with cassis, black fruits and a hint of oak. Nice complexity
and a total package. "A"
