This 66 Calon-Segur is quite dark for the age, with some age showing
around the rim. It is still quite decent drinking, but is on the decline and should not be kept much longer. It had better fruit a few years ago. Now that fruit is beginning to fade, the wine will likely dry out on further extended aging. It is quite a big wine of the old-fashioned style with much extract and body. There is a good bouquet and taste of mixed dark fruits and enough acid. It still has considerable tannin which is now smooth. It is a good match for red meat and probably game. It likely would match many of the same foods that a big red Rhone does. My mailbox is always full to avoid spam. To contact me, erase from my email address. Then add .
