Default TN: Chapelle-Chambertin 1970, Pierre Damoy

The Chapelle-Chambertin 1970, Pierre Damoy(Shipped by Alexis Lichine)
Has been properly stored since shortly after it was released, the fill
is still high, and there were no cork or other issues.

The 1970 Burgundy red wines tended to be lighter than those of more
famous years. Chapelle-Chambertin also tends to be lighter than
Chambertin. However this bottle has held up well with time. There is
no oxidation problem; plenty of acid, now fairly smooth, likely has
helped it last. It still tastes and smells very typical, although the
intensity of color, taste, and bouquet is not as great as for a top
wine. A bit of fairly dry tannin is present, and the wine does not
seem to have been "improved", which is more than one can say for some
Burgundy of this era and earlier.

Domaine bottling was not as common in this era as today. Alexis
Lichine, who shipped wines back then, arranged for some estates to
domaine bottle by bringing bottling equipment to the domaine at
bottling time. I do not know if this was the case for this wine.
