Any contributors into cruising? We've just returned from a trip on the
Legend of the Seas - China to Japan and Korea and were disappointed with
the price of booze on the ship.

Winelist had fair selection but, for example, entry level style Wolf Blass
Yellow Label Merlot (retails for less than AUD$10 in Australia) cost approx
AUD $46.50. Price in US dollars converted to AUD at the ship's exchange rate
and including the compulsory! 15% gratuity. They even left space on the
docket in case you wanted to add an extra tip.

There were a few "critter" wines a little cheaper but we chose not to
indulge. Beer and spirit prices were similarly high.

Give that the ship is duty free while at sea the pricing is especially
galling. Also counter productive to cash flow - we rarely saw people in the
dining room with a bottle of wine on the table.

PS planning a trip to Burgundy and Provence next June - if anyone's in town
for a shared bottle....
