Default Robert Weil 1994 Rheingau Riesling Spaetlaese

We opened this bottle last night for drinking on it's own rather by
mistake (SWMBO wanted a 1999 Weil Gräfenberg Kabinett, did not look
close enough and picked this one).

Anyway, not a bad mistake.

The colour was light straw, rather golden.

The nose, well, typical of the variety: fresh, fruity, slightly sweet.

On the palate the wine was rather sweet, fruity, with mainly melon and
gooseberry tastes. The acids were rather sublime in the background, but
definitely there. The whole was quite balanced despite the apparent
sweetness. The wine was still so fresh it's hard to believe it's nearly
ten years old.

Cheers,
