Hi,
The recent thread, which was talking about doggy bag law, and which I diverted into talking about bringing wines INTO the USA, brought some interesting facts to light. The balance of US Federal to State law vis-à-vis alcohol importation and transportation is so complex that a lawyer got it wrong and had to "stand corrected". Many of you freely admit to having smuggled wine into the country or across state borders because the laws are too restrictive and suggest that that I should do the same. I WAS prepared to risk confiscation of a half litre of wine 5 years ago. I'm NOT prepared to do so post 9-11 as I think the chances of baggage inspection are too high and the consequences for a foreigner too serious. Don't you think that with a presidential campaign in the offing, this is a good time to bring the subject into the limelight? -- All the Best Ian Hoare http://www.souvigne.com mailbox full to avoid spam. try me at website |
