Default 1992 La Bernardine

1992 Chapoutier La Bernardine Chateauneuf du Pape - I recall this wine as being
quite dark when young, so the almost Burgundian garnet colour it has taken on
comes as a bit of a surprise, though given that it's 100% Grenache I suppose it
shouldn't. The nose is quite good - leather and a bit of pepper with a
significant perfume component. In the mouth it is a little hot, but balanced
and sweet, and it ends well and with good length. There are some tannins
remaining, but I believe this wine is at peak right now and will hold for
several years.
