TN: 2005 Leal sauvignon blanc, Lake County
At first I thought I was smelling a riesling kabinett; the nose was
like peach, grape and honey, minerally, and intensly aromatic. Upon swirling and in palate, classic SBs' pungent and herbacous aroma which resembles cut grass dominated. Bright mid-palate, not as racy as a typical Marlborough SB but still had generous acidity. Just when I thought SBs are best left to the New Zealanders, Leal came up with this stunner... Interesting! This bottle of wine was sealed by a glass stopper. This is the first time I saw such a bottle closure. Like most good ideas I wondered why no one have done this earlier; it's easy to open, easy to close, and looks elegant too. I still haven't think of a real disadvantage. http://www.alcoa.com/csi/north_ameri..._vino_seal.asp Cheers! Man-Ho Chu |
