This is the easiest Beer Bread ever! Serve this with a hearty soup and
green salad, and you've got a good winter supper! Tavern Bread 3 cup self-rising flour 1/2 cup sugar 1 cup beer--room temperature (do not use light beer) 1/4 lb. butter, melted (Use real butter, not oleo, for a better flavor!) Preheat oven to 350*. Mix flour and sugar. Add the beer and mix well. Spoon into a greased 9x5" loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Remove from oven and pour melted butter over loaf. Return to oven for 15 more minutes. This can be frozen and reheated before serving. -- Rec.food.recipes is moderated by Patricia Hill at . Only recipes and recipe requests are accepted for posting.
