Picada
Sweet Potato Pie Bar Cookie from the 60s or 70s ~~~~~~~~~ From: "Hexe" > Subject: ISO recipe Date: 30 Nov 2005 06:42:20 -0800 I recently saw an episode of Floyd in Spain in which he used a paste called Picada in a vegetable stew recipe. He said the Spanish can't cook without it. The ingredients are almonds, fried bread, garlic, vinegar, olive oil, saffron and paprika which is crushed in a mortar to create a thick paste about the consistency of marzipan. While in Spain I bought several cookbooks and none mention picada nor could I find a recipe on the internet. It looks/sounds as if it could give an interesting flavor to soups or stews and I'd like to try it. Does anyone have a recipe. The stew he made consisted of pears, green beans, pumpkin, chickpeas, tomatoes and onions which also sounds interesting. I refuse to buy a book for one recipe. -- Hexe Buccholz DE ~~~~~~~~~ From: (Bob C) Subject: Sweet Potato Pie Date: Wed, 30 Nov 2005 18:54:53 -0500 Can someone out there please send me a receipe for Sweet Potato Pie. Been looking all over for one. Thanks. Bob ~~~~~~~~~ From: "Shelley" > Subject: Request: Bar Recipe Date: Wed, 30 Nov 2005 17:40:42 -0900 Looking for a bar / square recipe my mother used to make involving a pat in the pan prebaked shortcrust type base, topped with a cooked filling, some of which was crushed pineapple and its juice, maraschino cherries and cherry juice, cornstarch, possibly almond flavoring , and then a topping of some kind of meringue, perhaps had coconut in it. Does this sound familiar to anyone, it may have been from the 60's or 70's. Thanks for any help. ~~~~~~~~~ Rec.food.recipes is a moderated newsgroup; only recipes and requests for recipes are accepted for posting. Please allow two to five days for your submission to appear.
