Berry Syrup

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

1 quart berries -- about 1 pound whole berries, wash
and stem berries
1 1/2 cups sugar -- up to 2 cups total
1 teaspoon lemon juice

Place berries in blender or food processor; puree. Transfer berries to
3 to 4-quart microwave-safe bowl. Add remaining ingredients and stir
to combine. Microwave on High (100 percent) for 7 to 8 minutes, or
until mixture comes to a full boil.

Reduce power to Medium (50 percent) for 5 minutes, stirring once
halfway through cooking time. Cool. Serve as is, or for a clear syrup,
strain through a jelly bag. Place in a sterile jar, seal, and
refrigerate.
