the sauce yourself.

Baked Ziti

16 oz. ricotta cheese
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup cottage cheese
1 egg
1 (16 oz.) box ziti pasta
64 oz. Prego Spaghetti Sauce
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 green bell pepper
1/2 large onion
1 small can mushrooms
2 tsp. sugar

Brown beef with pepper, onion and mushrooms. Drain and set aside. In large
saucepan, cook ziti, in salted water until done. Drain. In Dutch Oven,
pour in Prego, sugar and browned beef mixture. Simmer for about 20
minutes; at this point, add extra oregano and Italian seasonings (to
taste) to sauce. In another bowl mix all cheeses together reserving 1/4
cup parmesan. In a 13 x 9 inch pan, place noodles all at once, and then
add most of the cheese, reserving a little bit for the top and about 1/2
the sauce. Blend with spoon until all noodles are covered. Add remaining
cheese mixture and rest of parmesan cheese. Bake at 325ø for 20 minutes.
When serving add sauce on top as desired along with extra parmesan.

Spaghetti Sauce

3/4 cup chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
3 tablespoons salad oil 2
pound can tomatoes, cut up
6-ounce cans tomato paste
water, according to how thick you want sauce
teaspoon sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
1 bay leaf

Cook onion and garlic in oil until tender but not brown. Stir in next 8
ingredients. Easy way is to put in crockpot day before, cook on high for
about 6 hours then turn to low and let cook overnight. In morning, add
meatballs or Italian Sausage cook rest of day.

It is best to do a double recipe, it freezes well also.
For a double batch of sauce, 2 lb of hamburg, 1 lb of italian sausage
