I got the idea for this recipe in 1970 from a book named You Are All
Sanpaku, by George Ohsawa. Brown Rice 1 cup brown rice 1 Tbsp oil (I use olive) 1/2 tsp. salt 2 1/3 cups water Saute the rice in oil, continually stirring until the rice is hot (3 minutes.) Add water (2 1/3 cups) and bring to a boil. Allow to boil for 5 minutes. Turn the heat to the lowest setting and cover the pan. Remove from heat after 45 minutes. I usually add 1/2 teaspoon of salt during the 5 minute boil. This is really good and satisfying used in a stir fry with steamed or sauteed vegetables.
