It looks like I am going to be canning beans and tomatoes for the next
few days. I have about 10 quarts of green beans (Roma and French
filet) all snapped and sitting on the counter waiting for the
dishwasher to finish. That should do close to 14 quart jars. I am
still staring at tomatoes. I think I will mostly make sauces since I
still have plenty of canned tomatoes.

I really do envy you, Susan. I planted 2 boxes of green beans and 3 plants
came up - we harvested all 12 beans last week. I planted 12 assorted tomato
plants and all appear to have rust (which I'm trying to treat). There may
not be (m)any tomatoes to harvest either.

The only veg that 'might' do well this year are the potatoes - they look
good above ground, so far....

Kathi,
complaining about her garden for the 2nd year in a row.....will prolly
relocate next year

pick off all the leaves that show rust on them and make sure you throw
them away and don't leave any on the ground around the plants. Also
DO NOT! compost them it will infect the whole compost pile. And yes
next year try a different location. By the way did you know this year
is an excellent year for potatoes? ;D

heeheee...thanks Vicky! I have already done all that you suggest, and will
relocate next year. I'm thinking I should buy new tomato cages too, cuz I'm
afraid the ones I have are contaminated too.

Well, since you are in IDAHO...I expect you will have great taters! I'm
outside Ottawa, Ontario, and maybe I will too, we'll see.....I always
harvest early anyway - we really like the leetle teeny weeny ones. I don't
necessarily plant them to 'winter' them

Good to see you back on the group!

Kathi
