Maybe a couple times a month tops, more for a social gathering than for the sake of the meal itself. The rest of the time, I pack him dinner leftovers and plan the week's meals accordingly so that at the beginning of the week and in the middle, I make something in large amounts that also keeps well. That could be lasagna (like this past week), stew, curry, chili, noodles, Ma Po tofu with rice, etc. Sometimes I just make double of whatever was for dinner--chicken piccata, spaghetti, etc. He likes it, and it's easier than fighting the lunch traffic crowd and wasting time. We're lucky enough that we live very close to where he works, so he can also drive home and make himself a sandwich or heat up some soup, too. I figure it's such a huge money saver (even a measly $5 a day for lunch adds up!) and he's eating better than he otherwise might if he ate at restaurants or fast food all the time. Ariane |
