Giada De Laurentiis opened a jar of marinara, dumped the ricotta out
of a carton and didn't pretend to grate cheese.... mmmmm it looked better than good! http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/reci..._30333,00.html http://tinyurl.com/zpfse I'm going to make something similar to this soon, of course I'll eliminate the prosciutto (because I don't like it). If someone made the fried zucchini for me, I wouldn't turn it down - but I don't like to fry.... so although it looked really good too; I won't be making it. ![]() -- Practice safe eating. Always use condiments. |

Always use condiments. I've made the linked recipe for lasagna rolls several times, we like it. The prosciutto is a strong flavor component of the filling, so if you don't care for prosciutto you would be right to eliminate it. I like her marinara sauce recipe as well. I think you'll enjoy it. Have fun. Janet |

Use a seasoned flour if you wish. Small whole mushrooms are nice this way also. Serve with a dipping sauce. Tartar or aiole is nice but many people like a tomato based hot sauce. -- JL |

I've done my own version twice and it's delicious but it takes a LOT longer than 25 minutes to prepare... also, if you use regular ham the taste of it kind of disappears - I used stacks of ham and you couldn't even taste it! Last time I made my own tomato sauce with mushrooms, onion and garlic in it and put it in the bottom of the pan, then laid the rolls in it and poured white sauce on top. Delicious! The only bad thing was that it took me at least two hours to make 20 rolls so we ate dinner very late. |

![]() Thanks, karen... you're right, it's not fast food!, just quicker - but it still looks really good! ![]() ```````````````````` On Sun, 26 Mar 2006 18:04:42 -0500, Karen AKA Kajikit wrote: > On Sat, 25 Mar 2006 08:07:38 -0800, sf > > wrote: > > >Giada De Laurentiis opened a jar of marinara, dumped the ricotta out > >of a carton and didn't pretend to grate cheese.... mmmmm it looked > >better than good! > >http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/reci..._30333,00.html > >http://tinyurl.com/zpfse I'm going to make something similar to this > >soon, of course I'll eliminate the prosciutto (because I don't like > >it). > > > >If someone made the fried zucchini for me, I wouldn't turn it down - > >but I don't like to fry.... so although it looked really good too; I > >won't be making it. ![]() > > I saw that show and thought 'I'd like to make those'... And I cooked them for ten minutes each according to the box instructions - you do the math! But it was all worthwhile in the end, and to make sure it was I made two little foil trays to freeze, and a big dish to eat... |
