Default a nice gift??

Hello Newsgroup:

I'm looking for some advice...
I would like to purchase a gift certificate for a friend and I'm not
sure of the sort of store / website that would be appropriate for him.
He has been cooking for years. He is by no means a professional, but
his abilities are advanced enough that he has many special utensils and
slicers and dicers and such. Is there a store that caters to the needs
of an aspiring chef, somewhere between an amatuer and a pro?

Thanks for your time!

I like www.cooking.com for many things.
Sur le Table (aka "surly table" lol) can be found at www.surletable.com
A neat selection of items can be found at Zabars in NYC: www.zabars.com

Hope this gives you some ideas?

Surfa's is an excellent place for professionals and home cooks alike.
It's in L.A. (Culver City) but also does online business. Check it

unless you know he's going to be cooking and nothing else, then think
about a costco or target card... he would be able to buy supplies easily.

(small thought from a short lady)
