Here's a very user-friendly website for anyone interested in learning
about or preparing food dishes throughout history. (with links).
Ever considered hosting an Ancient Roman feast or maybe an 18th.
Century Colonial meal?

Could be fun. Kev

Interesting site. Thanks for posting the link.

I don't know about the ancient Roman feast idea, but an 18th century
colonial meal wouldn't be too bad. Some of the core foods that we
consider essentially "American" originated around that time. Now,
cooking with a wood fire using 18th century utensils would be a
different story!

Is that where a bunch of people sat around long tables without any
flatware, holding hunks of meat in their fists with the juices running all
down their faces and onto their clothes while wenches filled mugs with ale
and spirits?

Isn't that called a BBQ joint?

Elaine, too

No, you're thinking of a medevial feast. A Roman feast would have been
people reclining on couches, drinking wine, eating exotic foods like
pigeon stomachs, and then puking it all up and doing it again and again.
