One persons sins don't validate another's. And, we're not discussing accents
here. Speech pathologists have a term for what Bush does to that word - I
don't recall what it is. But, it is not "regional color" or an accent, as
some people claim.

I have a theory: Bush has been instructed by his sitter (Karl Rove) to
continue mispronouncing the word as much as he wants. The reason is
disgusting. During his first campaign, he made a few comments about the
"intellectual elite" or some such nonsense. Mispronouncing the word endears
him to a certain segment of his supporters who claim to agree that education
is important, but don't have much of it themselves.

Meanwhile, I've heard interviews with foreign diplomats from countries like
Slovakia and China, and these people often have a command of the English
language that makes Bush look utterly pathetic. Something's seriously wrong
with that.

I also have a theory.
Doug Kanter hate George Bush so much, that he will slander the
president no matter what.
Doug if you have a problem with the president, bring out the reasons
why. But to attack him because of his accent and his (to you)
mispronunciation of a word, shows your lack of the ability to
verbalize the reason of your hatred.

1) It's not an accent. Visit your nearest school and ask the speech
pathologist.

2) There is only one way to pronounce the word. Check any dictionary.

3) I have a real problem with people who take jobs they know they're not
qualified for, especially when it puts in jeopardy the lives of citizens who
just want to get through their day. This is why I don't claim to know how to
fly jets or do surgery.

It *is* a mispronounciation. "nuclear" only has one "u" in it.
