Default Mead Cake?

Hi,

I'm looking for a recipe for mead cake. Does anyone here have such a
thing, or know where I can get one?

Many thanks,
Emma

Drizzle a basic honey cake repeatedly with mead until saturated... then
partake until saturated. hehe

Do you mean "Idromele" liqueur? If you need the recipe of this, I can give
you. I always make idromele; it is also called "Gods drink" !!! It is very
very good!

I believe Idromele is Italian for mead. It's not mead itself that I
want to make, but a cake which uses it in the recipe. I have tried
brewing once or twice and have discovered that I just don't have the
patience!

Oh sorry ! I missunderstood your question! You want a cake with idromele!
I have only the recipe of an apple cake with idromele inside.
I don't know if you want it.

Yes please - I'm collecting all the mead-related cake recipes I can
find. I then intend to have great fun trying them all out! It's for
my wedding cake - I just need to make sure I will fit in the dress at
the end of it!

Apple and mead sounds like a great combination...

Yes, I know! Once upon a time I hadn't rum for my apple cake and I put
idromele. It was terrific!
I search for the recipe, than I translate and I send you ASAP.

It's helpful to quote the message you're replying to. From Google,
click "show options" and use the Reply shown in the expanded message

Pandora, even if munchkin doesn't want the recipe for Idromele/Mead, others,
including me, would like it. Maybe you could post it in a separate subject
heading? Thanks! Eric

Aha! Thank you - I've been looking for that....

I'm used to using usenet (try saying that after a few drinks....) via a
normal newsreader, but this isn't a group I would normally subscribe to
so going via google seemed easier. It does hide things like this
pretty well, though....!

If you search google there are innumerable websites with lots of
information about making mead and related drinks. There's also a
rec.crafts.meadmaking group which might be of interest.

Inernet and books are full of recipe of idromele. It's true! But is true
also the fact that all the recipes I've tried wasn't perfect. To make a
perfect liqueur (for yourselves), as you surely know, you must try doing it
many times: till you find the exact quantitys of ingredients which are good
for your taste.
Very often, liqueur recipes require a lot of sugar and few alcohol. I don't
like too much sugar in liqueurs, and I don't like a liqueur with few alcohol
in it, so I very often change the quantity required.
My idromele is fruit of a long experience , here why it is different from
any recipe you will be able to find on web.

I had to use Google for about four months at the start of the year, so
I spent quite a bit of time messing with it before hitting on how to
quote with it. All appeals to Google to change the default Reply to
have usenet standard quotes and attributions have been roundly ignored.

As have all other suggestions for improvement and reports of spam and
other TOS violations. They have their platform for selling ad space,
so their job is done, apparently. -aem

And so passed the great Google motto, "Don't be evil."

munchkin, I reread my post and I hope that I didn't offend with it. If so,
sorry!

I've never heard of Idromele before. So was curious.

Now, Pandora, I use to work at a Renaissance Faire years ago, and got to
taste a number of meads, both homebrew and store bought. Several of the
store boughts were *too* sweet. Chaucer comes to mind (commercial mead). I
wish I could remember the name of the several meads that I loved. Both were
*dry* meads, and one was slightly effervescent. Heavenly!!!!! Was told the
*sparkle* was the way it came.

Most of the home brews were on the dry side as well. One was *way* too
sweet.

Looking forward to the posting of your Idromele recipe. Who knows? I may
finally try brewing something of my own....

Thanks, Eric
