Last time it was ketchup that was promulgated as a veggie, and the (president's) whim that broccoli should not rear it's flowery head anywhere near the white house. maxine in ri |

Particularly the line: "Under an obscure USDA rule, most frozen french fries have been considered fresh vegetables since 1996. Now they all are, under a revision last year that added batter-coated, frozen french fries to the list of fresh produce" Which Republican was president in 1996? They will all do just about anything for a campaign contribution |

I guess they're pretty much the same thing. Only to me the potato is just there to hold the batter together before it's fried. >ketchup that was promulgated as a veggie The news coverage has been clear that the classification, in this case, intends no judgment with respect to nutritional values. However, the only reason this story is "news" is that people are invited to make that inference. And ketchup IS a veggie, anyway. Neil |

>Ketchup is a processed fruit product. A tomatoe is a fruit.
Or, as some put it, a berry. Which is itself a fruit. Which is itself a vegetable. |
