I have figs again. Not so many as last year -- the drought would
appear to be responsible. But plenty figs, boys and girls. Plenty. So I stemmed a dozen ripe ones. Split them on the stem end in an X. Stuffed a small chunk (chunkette?) of blue cheese into the X. Broiled them 2 or 3 minutes. A little black pepper. Ate 'em up. Yum. modom Only superficial people don't judge by appearances. -- Oscar Wilde |

Peel, core, slice and nuke with shredded cheese on top. ;-d Om (off to go check her fig tree......) -- Om. "My mother never saw the irony in calling me a son-of-a-bitch." -Jack Nicholson |

I didn't know what they were until I saw a drawing of a fig branch with fruit on it. lol kimberly |

What I do is make a simple spinach salad (vinagrette, salt, pepper), then top with ripe pear slices, gorgonzola, and candied walnuts. Sue(tm) Lead me not into temptation... I can find it myself! |

I made it a few weeks ago and it was truly delicious! If you're interested in the recipe e-mail me and I will forward it or post. The recipe comes from the cookbook "American Brasserie" by Rick Tramonto and Gale Gand. Kate |

I LOVE fresh figs - probably my favorite fruit. I love them in a salad with fresh tomatoes, cukes, and avocado, with a touch of a nice balsamic vinegarette dressing. Add some toasted baguette slices. Man, I am hungry just thinking about them! -L. |

Kind thinking about trying some. Never have made any and have no real recipe. Would love to have feedback on it. Also, don't even know if figs would be alright in it. I think its usually made with peaches and such , though. hugs, kate |

I have so many figs that they're going bad. Well, some of them are. Sure wish I could get them to you and the others who like them. But that would require an embodied forum of some sort. Figgies don't travel well. modom |

What a sad situation... you with figs, us wishing for them. You with too-hot weather, us with OK weather (except for the humidity). Can you mush 'em and freeze them for later use? Good tidings we bring to you and your kin; Good tidings for Christmas and a Happy New Year. Oh, bring us a figgy pudding; Oh, bring us a figgy pudding; Oh, bring us a figgy pudding and a cup of good cheer We won't go until we get some; We won't go until we get some; We won't go until we get some, so bring some out here |

My DH's Aunt did that for me with some from her tree - it was a tad on the sweet side but heavenly on toasted bagels and baguettes, with ricotta. -L. |
